Workshops

Our half day workshops are designed to provide technical training and information for Inspectors, Testers, IQP’s, Council Officers, Property Managers and other interested parties working in the building compliance sector.

Workshop 2: Owners Compliance Checks 1pm-4.00pm


This workshop is practical training on the purpose and procedures required for the completion of monthly inspections (owners checks) on specified systems as required by the Building Act and Building Regulations.

The course will cover key elements of the NZ Building Act, NZ Compliance Schedule Handbook, Inspections as listed on a building compliance schedule document, including SS14/2 signs for specified systems, SS15/2 final exits and exitways to reach a place of safety, SS15/3 and SS15/5 fire and smoke separations relating to means of escape, SS15/4 signs for communicating information for evacuation (exit, directional, no exit signs), and look at the functional relationship with other specified systems in respect to means of escape such as SS3 Doors.


Cost of workshop for members is $205+GST

Cost of workshop for non members is $305+GST

JARROD WARD

Jarrod brings over 30 years of experience in the fire industry, having begun his career in a family-owned business specialising in gas flood systems for boats and the power sector. His expertise has been recognised through contributions to standards committees, where he has provided valuable insights from both installation and regulatory perspectives. With a comprehensive background in building compliance across all specified systems, along with valuable experience at Council level, Jarrod’s extensive knowledge is a significant asset to our members.


ABCTech training workshops offered by the Association of Building Compliance (ABC) are intended for introductory or refresher CPD only. While these workshops provide valuable educational support and technical information, it is not designed to replace formal qualifications or certifications however they are designed to complement them. Completion of our training does not grant certification as an Independently Qualified Person (IQP) or other professional designations but can be used in evidence to support an application.
