Automatic Fire Alarms Systems are a critical tool in providing emergency warning in the event of a fire. This workshop looks at the SS2 requirements for Automatic Fire Alarm Systems and in particular the requirements under NZS 4512.

This workshop will focus on the Automatic Fire Alarm systems requirements as part of the SS2 Automatic or manual emergency warning systems for compliance and it will cover the following:

  • Building Act and Fire and Emergency NZ Act
  • NZ Building Code C clauses
  • Inspection and Maintenace requirements with reference to the relevant Standards and manufacturers requirements
  • Common issues
  • Current best practices

This workshop is designed for both IQP’s and Building Compliance Officials. Whether you are new or experienced in the industry this is a good course designed to upskill or refresh your skills.

Cost: Members $425+GST and Non-members $550+GST

The course includes a post course assessment. On completion of the assessment, you will be awarded a Certificate of completion and 4.5 hours of CPD.


Our Presenter - Jarrod Ward

Jarrod brings over 30 years of experience in the fire industry, having begun his career in a family-owned business specialising in gas flood systems for boats and the power sector. His expertise has been recognised through contributions to standards committees, where he has provided valuable insights from both installation and regulatory perspectives. With a comprehensive background in building compliance across all specified systems, along with valuable experience at Council level, Jarrod’s extensive knowledge is a significant asset to our members.
