Workshops

Our half day workshops are designed to provide technical training and information for Inspectors, Testers, IQP’s, Council Officers, Property Managers and other interested parties working in the building compliance sector.

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming workshop designed to clarify the often-confused concepts of access control over egress control, with a strong focus on the critical aspects of egress control.

Why Attend?

Egress control systems play a vital role in ensuring occupant safety during emergencies, yet many installations prioritize security over life safety. This workshop aims to address these issues and establish a shared, consistent understanding among industry professionals.

What You’ll Takeaway:

  • The key differences between access control and egress control.
  • How to correctly wire systems between the locking mechanism, controller, and fire alarm system.
  • Requirements for testing and methods to properly verify system interfaces.
  • The process under the Building Act for addressing installations completed without consent.

This session is ideal for installers, inspectors, facility managers, and anyone involved in building compliance.

Review:

“The most valuable learning experience for me was clarity on the definition of the automatic door and the fail-safe component of the workshop. Very beneficial for my personal gain. Clear and concise explanations. The breakdown on the 'why' is what has been missing since being in Council for six years – if this was raised to me six years ago, we’d be well ahead. Highly recommend this course for all council officers in this space so we can share the same knowledge and set the same expectations nationwide. Thanks, Terry!” - Kelly Gee, Hutt City Council.

This workshop is designed for both IQP’s and Building Compliance Officials. Whether you are new or experienced in the industry this is a good course designed to upskill or refresh your skills.

  • On completion you will be awarded a Certificate of completion and 4.0 hours of CPD.

Cost for workshop:

$425 +GST for ABC Member

$550 +GST for Non-Member
