A Word from the Chair
Tēnā koutou katoa (Greetings to you all),
As we are at the midpoint of the year, it is a fitting time to reflect and set our sights on the exciting future initiatives we have planned.
Your nominated Committee have recently met for their second face-to-face this year where we discussed various industry related activities (such as our Nelson Conference) and other initiatives we want to be involved in, as well as our usual focus on ensuring the Association is operating the most effectively and efficiently for the benefit of our members. I would like to thank the Committee and their Businesses for their time in attending these important management meetings.
Since our establishment, the core assignment of the Association has been to build competency and set high standards for the provision of Building Compliance Services. So, it is not surprising that the main pillar supporting this is education through our ABC Tech arm. We, and those on the Committee before us, believe that continuous learning and professional development are crucial for maintaining the high standards we set for ourselves and for our industry. In the past few months, we have intensified our focus on educational initiatives, offering a variety of workshops, seminars, and courses designed to upskill our members and keep them abreast of the latest developments in building compliance.
Our recent free online lunchtime seminar, featuring an industry expert, shared their insights and experiences which has proved immensely popular and informative. Because of the great feedback we have received we are committed to providing more of these in the future. These events not only enrich our knowledge but also foster a sense of community among our members, encouraging collaboration and the sharing of best practices.
Please remember that we welcome your feedback and suggestions on how we can continue to support your professional growth and meet the evolving needs of our industry. Utilise the tools we are providing in terms of your member portal for booking events and forums via the website to obtain your CPD Certificates.
In closing I would like to acknowledge all our members for their commitment to being a member of our professional organisation and as always, a warm welcome to our newest members.
Ngā mihi nui
Laura Williams
Chair
An insight from the CEO
Kia ora koutou,
II would just like to re-iterate what Laura has mentioned about training and competency. We need to keep ourselves up to date on industry matters and the best way to do that is to attend regular training workshops, regular forums and our webinars. We are endeavouring to increase our range of workshops to cover other specified systems. We are also working on our next webinar series which hopefully will be advertised shortly.
I would also like to mention that if you miss the forums or webinars, they are available on our members only page for you to either view the video of the session or download the powerpoint for you to peruse. We encourage you to even go back over these even if you did attend them as they all contain valuable information and they might help you in the future.
As always, we are open to suggestions for topics and speakers for our forums and webinars, so please send through ideas to and possible speakers to our admin team.
Nga mihi ora mai,
Trent Fearnley
